TV Appearance: Kotetsu from Our Collection Featured on “Matsuko no Shiranai Nihonto no Sekai”
We lent a Kotetsu katana from our collection to the nationally broadcast TBS program “Matsuko no Shiranai Nihonto no Sekai,” which aired on TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting System) on January 30, 2024.
In the program, Japanese sword expert Paul Martin and Tumi Grendel Markan, a multilingual cultural guide at the Bizen Osafune Japanese Sword Museum, introduced the world of Japanese swords to the host, Matsuko Deluxe, a well-known Japanese TV personality and columnist.
Alongside various topics on Japanese swords, the program also showcased the production processes of both blades and koshirae, featuring the artisans behind them. As an example of a blade polished by master polisher Sotaro Matsumura, we lent our sword by Nagasone Kotetsu Nyudo Okisato, which has a gold inlaid inscription indicating a two-body cutting test performed by Yamano Kauemon Nagahisa.
