
TV Program Appearance: Tachi Koshirae from Our Collection, Originally Owned by the Himeji Sakai Family, Featured on “Matsuko no Shiranai Nihonto no Sekai Part 2”
Wwas produced as a follow-up to the first feature on Japanese swords, which aired in January 2024 and received an enthusiastic response from viewers.e lent a tachi koshirae (sword mounting) once owned by the Himeji Sakai family, former lords of Himeji Castle, along with a tachi stand from our collection, to the nationally broadcast television program “Matsuko no Shiranai Nihonto no Sekai Part 2,” which aired on TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting System) on April 29, 2025.
This TV program was produced as a follow-up to the first feature on Japanese swords, which aired in January 2024 and received a highly positive response.
As in the previous episode, Paul Martin, a Japanese sword expert, and Tumi Grendel Markan, a multilingual cultural guide at the Bizen Osafune Japanese Sword Museum, introduced the world of Japanese swords to the host, Matsuko Deluxe, a well-known Japanese TV personality and columnist.
The items we lent, including the important tachi koshirae, tachi stand, and stingray skin were featured during the program and discussed on air.
